Director of Translational Research

The Director of Translational Research will lead a cross-functional team in the development and execution of human studies, biomarker discovery, and internal IRB-approved studies. The scope of work ranges from physiology studies and sweat discovery through product-development testing and research utilizing Eccrine’s devices.

Position: Full-time. Reports to Vice President of R&D
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
Lead a talented multidisciplinary discovery team tasked with expanding the knowledge of sweat physiology to inform applications of sweat sensors to improve human health, safety, and productivity.
Build strategic operational plans for discovery and development programs that are aligned with R&D and commercial goals. Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute a research strategy based on corporate objectives and priorities.
Develop and utilize external networks and relationships to drive research collaborations expanding sweat sensing applications.
Serve as a strong advocate and founding researcher in the nascent field of Eccrinology. Represent Eccrine Systems at industry, academic, government, and medical conferences by giving talks, submitting papers, and presenting original research.
Provide technical insight and apply relevant knowledge to the design of products and their testing and validation through user studies.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
MD/PhD or PhD in a relevant scientific area (ex: biochemistry, physiology, chemistry, biology) with experience in leading discovery and development programs.
Outstanding record of innovative contributions to translational science with demonstrated ability to use strong science to guide strategic direction.
Ability to effectively communicate complex data and results to various stakeholders including: clinicians, technical team leaders, senior management is a must.
Demonstrated ability to successfully influence internal and external cross-functional teams by promoting creative problem solving, effective cross-functional planning and execution, clear decision-making, and accountability.
Demonstrated research interests with alternative biofluids such as sweat, saliva, respiratory fluid, or tears (preferred).
Working knowledge of clinical protocols and regulatory processes
